Duda and Ana Patrícia celebrate the title at the Am Rothenbaum Stadium with the Brazilian fans

Another dominant week of Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour ended with the Brazilians at the top of the podium of the Elite16 event held in Hamburg, Germany, on Sunday.

The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking leaders faced third-placed Americans Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss in the gold medal match at the Am Rothenbaum Stadium and claimed the title with a straight-set (21-16, 21-17) victory. The home team of Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann also made it to the podium in third place.

The victory in Hamburg marked the third title won by Duda and Ana Patrícia in their last four Beach Pro Tour events. The Brazilians, who also took gold in Ostrava and Gstaad, immediately recovered from their fifth-place finish in Montréal three weeks ago and have now won 22 of their last 24 matches at the international level.

“I’m so happy, we played really well,” Duda reacted. “It was incredible to play here in Hamburg again after missing the event last year and to return with another gold medal, it's always a lot of fun playing here. The last tournament was very hard for us, so we prepared really well last week and took this one match by match and point by point, and it worked.”

The final at the Am Rothenbaum Stadium also extended the impressively positive record of the world champions against the Americans. The teams have now met seven times in the last ten months and the Brazilians emerged victorious in each of them, dropping just four sets to their rivals.

“Winning a Beach Pro Tour event is so hard,” Ana Patrícia reflected. “We've played the Americans a lot lately and it's never been easy. Having several Brazilians here pushing us meant a lot and helped us keep going this week. Our fans were loud and it was very special to play in front of them.”

Duda and Ana Patrícia were nearly unstoppable this week in Hamburg, winning all seven matches they played in the German city, while losing just one set in pool play to compatriots Carol Salgado and Bárbara Seixas, who they swept in the semifinals earlier on Sunday.

In the bronze medal match, Müller and Tillmann took advantage of the support of the thousands of German fans that made it to the Am Rothenbaum to take a straight-set (21-15, 21-19) victory over Brazilian veterans Carol and Bárbara.

It was the first Beach Pro Tour medal won by the pair in 2023. Last year, besides taking bronze at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship, they also won the title of the Ostrava Elite16 event.

The next Elite16 event in the 2023 Beach Pro Tour season will take place in Paris, the host city of next year’s Olympic Games, from September 27-October 1.
