Scandicci

While table leaders and defending champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano were picking up the silver medal at the FIVB Women's Club World Championship in Ankara, Igor Gorgonzola Novara missed their chance to catch up at the top of the standings as the fell in straight sets to Savino Del Bene Scandicci 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-22) in Round 12 of the Italian women's League on Sunday evening.

Instead, led by Ofelia Malinov, who earned the MVP of the match award for her performance and a match high of 15 by Brazil's Natalia Pereira, Scandicci have now closed in to within two points of Novara in the standings.

It brings an end to Novara's ten-match winning streak (including European Champions League matches).
